Telluride Backcountry Skiing
The San Juans are a backcountry skiing and snowboarding hot spot. Why settle for 1500 acres at the ski area when 50,000 acres of prime terrain surround it. Steep chutes, wide open bowls and killer glades abound in all the valleys radiating out of Telluride. Many have skin and boot tracks already established: all you need to bring is ambition, water and an energy bar! We also offer comprehensive snow safety and snow science courses for those interested in understanding our legendary snowpack. Good skiing usually opens in October and can last into June.
